Kanji Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 4, 2026
App operator: MAKSIM VOLOSHINSKII, Georgia
Privacy contact: me@voloshinskii.com

Kanji helps you study Japanese characters using an offline dictionary, Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, and optional local reminders. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app.

Information stored on your device

Your selected JLPT study levels, topics, reminder preferences, widget appearance, and current access status are stored locally in a shared container used by the app and its widget. If you select your own background photos, the app stores smaller copies of only the images you choose in that container. You can remove imported photos in the widget appearance settings.

Dictionary searches run against a database included with the app. Search terms are not sent to our server. If you enable reminders, iOS handles notification permission and delivery of locally scheduled notifications. You can turn reminders off in Kanji or revoke permission in iOS Settings.

Purchases and RevenueCat

Apple processes App Store purchases. Kanji uses RevenueCat to display available plans, verify access, restore purchases, and unlock paid features. The app does not receive your payment card details.

Kanji does not require an account. The RevenueCat SDK creates an anonymous app user ID and may process purchase history, receipts, subscription status, and technical information needed to operate the purchase service. For more information, see the RevenueCat privacy policy and Apple privacy policy.

As of October 4, 2026, the Kanji project in RevenueCat shows no active integrations with analytics, attribution, marketing, or other third-party services. RevenueCat's own purchase validation and reporting features remain part of the purchase service described above. We will update this policy before enabling an integration that changes how your information is shared.

Retention and your choices

You can remove imported photos in Kanji and change or disable reminders at any time. Deleting the app removes its local settings and photo copies from the device, although earlier copies may remain in iOS backups according to your backup settings.

We keep RevenueCat customer and purchase records while needed to provide and verify paid access; we do not set an automatic deletion date. After verifying a deletion request, we delete the associated customer record from our RevenueCat project and confirm completion by email. Deleting that record does not cancel an App Store subscription; you can manage subscriptions through Apple. Apple and RevenueCat may retain information under their own policies or legal obligations.

To request access to or deletion of information associated with a purchase, contact me@voloshinskii.com. We may ask for information needed to locate the purchase record. Apple may retain App Store transaction records under its own policies.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. The current version is available inside Kanji. For privacy questions, contact me@voloshinskii.com.
